YouTube is one of the most popular platforms for video content in the world! They currently have over 2 billion active users on a monthly basis, and that is definitely a huge number! This platform is one that only sees growth and will continue to only grow overtime. In fact, it is predicted that by the year 2025, YouTube will have over 3 billion active users monthly.

YouTube as a platform is used by a vast audience. There are individual creators who are creating and posting videos for fun, then theirs people who have turned it into their profession and lastly, businesses who use this social media platform to grow themselves and their sales. YouTube is one platform where creators come to make money through the platform but also where business owners come to promote themselves and create awareness. This is why YouTube has become a place where you see various types of content from a diverse community of people and creators. Although, this then brings in the question to many people and business owners; how can I grow my channel on YouTube?

  • Based on what you plan on doing with your YouTube channel, you need to take a deep look into who your audience is and what they are interested in. Every aspect here matters and so does every demographic. Their age, gender, interests, hobbies, likes, dislikes, etc. This helps because at the end of the day, an individual only spends time watching something if it is something that resonates with them and their likings.

    For example, if you are someone who is looking into creating a fitness oriented channel, then understanding the audience would involve knowing what kind of fitness they want to see. Are your audiences going to benefit from home workouts? Outdoor workouts? Gym workouts? Who is a majority of the audience you want to target? What age group? The questions are plenty but the answers are crucial.

  • As you continue to gradually post, you will start to notice what kind of videos work better than others. The ones that work better possibly have concepts that work better for your audience and once you figure out which ones, you can then reformat the same video ideas. Or, it is also possible for you to keep the concept the same but the content can be completely new. For example, there are many lifestyle vloggers on YouTube. These channels tend to have monthly content which outlines aspects of their day-to-day lives. The reason they repeat concepts is because in the past they have worked really well for their audience and it is something they definitely like to see.

  • Subscriptions from audiences not only come when the content is suitable for one, but it also matters to provide a schedule that your audience can follow. If you see a consistent YouTube channel, you will notice that these creators have a schedule that they follow when it comes to posting their new videos. Most of them are uploading a video 2-3 times a week. On Instagram, many creators and businesses aim at posting at least once a day or sometimes more, but with YouTube it is absolutely not like that. This is because videos are usually content which are long to consumer and even the audiences understand that shooting and editing are a process on their own. Although, it is absolutely a loss if you are inconsistent and continuously disappearing on YouTube. It would be harmful to your page if you’re posting inconsistently or after long periods.

    YouTube is most definitely a really great social media platform for business and individual creators. This platform has always been known for the long format of videos but now with the evolution of social media and the digital age, they have also entered the world of short videos, taking inspiration from TikTok and Instagram’s Reels. Although, this has not taken away from how effective the original YouTube content format really is. It is still a wonderful platform for brands, influencers and creators to connect, communicate and share information.
