In Intensive Care Units, the amount of data to be processed for patients care, the turnover of the patients, the necessity for reliability and for review processes indicate the use of Patient Data Management Systems (PDMS). To respond to the needs of an Intensive Care Unit and not to be locked with proprietary software, we developed a PDMS on open source software and components.

INTRODUCTION
Doctors @ RGCI were trying to monitor various treatment types for Myeloma and recording all their data offline. We deployed the HEALTH CARE solution where they were able to store data for all their patients centrally and record several metrics by treatment options etc.
- Healthcare professionals involved with IT projects often lack in experience in IT development. Risks are higher in clinical applications which require strong user involvement.
- These technologies are also being implemented into the RGCI at a fast rate because of the urgency to collect data to support accountability measures.
- Also they were able to run real time reports per patient and for the treatment type data set (Temperature movement over 1 week for all patients being treated with Plan A vs Plan B) as well as performance indications / alerts.
